How to prepare a Ukotini Epsom Salts for Dogs bath
Follow your usual routine by gathering any supplies that you will need to ensure a smooth procedure for both yourself and your four-legged friend. This will include towels, Ukotini Epsom Salts for Dogs and, if appropriate, any shampoos. Ukotini recommends that you brush your dog to ensure that any knots or tangles in the coat are removed before beginning the soak. If your dog has an injury or skin complaint in an area, clean and trim any hair away from this area to ensure that the Epsom Salts can work their magic.
Fill your basin with warm water and add the Ukotini Epsom Salts for Dogs as indicated on the label. Ukotini recommends using roughly a cup of salts per gallon of water in the basin. You may want to dab a little of the salted water onto any open wounds or surface scratches before immersing your dog in the water, and ensure the water is not too hot for your dog’s comfort.
Place your dog in the bath. You will know the temperament of your dog, but please use your own judgement to determine the stress level of your dog if they are not accustomed to having a bath on a regular/semi-regular basis. You may need to reassure your dog as he or she learns to relax in the bath. Use a plastic cup to pour water over your dog’s body, and he or she should start to ease into the experience. Continue to pour the water, and if possible, convince your dog to sit or lie down to relax. Keep your dog in the water for at least ten minutes, and then carefully lift him or her from the bath and gently towel dry.
You can also use Ukotini Epsom Salts for Dogs on a smaller scale to soothe sore paws. Prepare a bowl of salt water and place your dog’s paws in the water to soak for at least 10 minutes. You can also use terry cloths or sponges to make a compress to use on injured skin. Repeat this process two to three times a day for optimal effects.
